Veteran Training is designed to help staff members who have been on staff for more than one year. It will include training focused on helping staff advance in specific areas. Our on-going training initiatives will be offered in the regions and at the FCA National Support Center. Staff can sign up for the class (usually a maximum of 30 per class). Supervisors can recommend attending workshops after staff evaluation. Specific training workshops and modules are developed for specific areas that need to be developed.
Veteran Training serves as FCA’s continual education program. Field staff typically pay for their travel. Overnight expenses are either picked up by the staff or the NSC. Meals, program, materials and training are covered by the NSC.
Game Plan:
Game Plan is on-going training to new programs and resources. It keeps staff connected. Each year, we will emphasize or make additions to existing programs or resources. Game Plan sessions are training that staff do in their local offices and usually take 30 to 60 minutes. It gets our staff on the same page with programming direction.
Camp School:
Camp School is designed for those who fulfill the role of camp director, program director and/or Huddle leader coordinator at any of FCA's camps. It is our expectation that staff who fulfill these roles must attend Camp School before their camp. Camp School is offered twice a year and includes four days of training. It provides comprehensive training for staff to be certified to do an FCA Camp.
Coaches Ministry School:
Coaches Ministry School is designed to help staff become more effective at ministering to coaches and connecting them to Christ and ministry. It is offered at the NSC and throughout the regions. This training prepares staff to effectively minister to coaches. It typically is three days. Topics include Bible and Sport, 3-Dimensional Coaching, Resources, r12 Coach, and Commissioning Coaches.
Leaders of Excellence:
This training is not about developing specific FCA leadership skills. It is about leaders that care about God’s Kingdom first and have a servant heart. It is an opportunity for staff to take their leadership abilities to the next level by being challenged to think “out-of-the-box.” It is designed to train FCA’s next generation of leaders. The vision of Leaders of Excellence (LoE) is to see FCA leaders be kingdom-minded servant leaders who have an intimate relationship with Christ, a realistic view of themselves and authentic relationships with others. Each class of LoE will consist of 20-25 participants who will make a two-year commitment to three classes each year. The classes will be held at Mohican State Park in Northeastern Ohio. The classes will occur in the late summer, fall and spring. The classes will be divided into “Discovery,” “Outward,” “Upward,” “Inward” and “Forward” focuses. The total cost is $250 for materials for the six retreats. All travel, lodging and meals for the six retreats will be paid for by the NSC.
Regional Meetings:
These meetings are held in the regions by the V.P. of Field Ministry. The focus is on regional training and planning.
Mentoring Program:
Mentoring is when “someone’s hindsight becomes someone’s foresight.” Our Mentoring Program is designed to help our staff benefit from the experience of seasoned veterans of the faith.
Training Clinics:
Training Clinics are topical seminars that are offered at various times and locations to fill training and developmental needs. These can focus on Leadership Boards, Home Team, Campus Ministry and others.
Advanced Ministry Training:
Advanced Ministry Training is a collection of seminary-level classes that help those called to a life of ministry to take their training to the highest level. These courses may be taken for credit towards a graduate degree or audited.
